Notice of Donor Information Security Incident
WellSpan has been notified of an information security incident that occurred with one of our third-party service providers called Blackbaud. Blackbaud, a global provider of customer relationship management software, provides WellSpan with cloud-based and data solution services related to our donors and fundraising efforts.
Blackbaud recently informed us that unauthorized individuals acquired backup files of some of its customer’s fundraising databases, including WellSpan’s database. The information contained in the donor database included: name, date of birth, gender, mailing address, email address and phone number. Some or all of this information may have been part of the data in our database record.
According to Blackbaud, the cybercriminal did not access credit card information, bank account information, or Social Security numbers as that information was not kept on this database. Private health information also was not involved. WellSpan Health does not share any patient health information with Blackbaud. Based on the nature of the event and the detailed research conducted by Blackbaud, along with WellSpan’s own independent security investigation, we have no reason to believe that any data went beyond the cybercriminal.
WellSpan Health understands the importance of keeping confidential personal information that is shared with us safe and secure. We take that responsibility very seriously. We value your trust in WellSpan and want you to be fully informed of this incident. If you have any additional questions, visit blackbaud.com/securityincident or contact us at Philanthropy@wellspan.org.
