WellSpan Health is the 2019 recipient of the Critical Event Management Impact Award for the innovative use of its staff emergency notification system, Everbridge. This award recognizes organizations that creatively utilize the system to keep employees safe as well as ensure that business operations can continue to run as smoothly as possible during incidents.

“Our employees rely on being in the loop when critical information needs to be relayed,” explained Chris Krichten, director of emergency management, WellSpan Health. “With the push of a button we can now send alerts through text, email and voicemail making sure our staff has the information they need, as quickly as possible.”

WellSpan received the award for its work in improving emergency communications with the more than 19,000 employees across the health system that spans five counties in south central Pennsylvania.

The Everbridge system can also send weather alerts to specific employees in the path of a storm as well as notify them of safety events for situational awareness and information sharing.

“This notification process adds a layer of preparedness to the emergency operation plans of the health system,” added Krichten.

An independent panel of industry experts selected the world-wide recipients after closely reviewing all submissions.
