Jane Kriner: 80 years old, mom, grandma and retired purchasing agent from Clear Spring, Md.

Why I chose to get the vaccine: “At my age, I wanted to protect myself. It’s like getting a flu shot in the fall. It can help you stay healthy. That’s the way I feel. I want life to go back to normal.”

What I’m looking forward to: “I miss the social aspects of life. I’m so selective and my daughter, she’s so cautious with me. She says, ‘Mom you can ride along but you cannot get out.’ She only allows me to go in Martin’s grocery store at certain times.

I enjoy lunch out with friends. I love my church and my church family at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clear Spring. My age group, when you continue to be social and interact with people, I think it keeps you more alert in your mind. It’s a good thought process. I don’t want to start to be cut off and isolated from others.

I miss the Clear Spring Garden Club. I belong to a Red Hat Group and we would meet every month for lunch. That was fun too.

I like to shop and go to the outlets. That’s a good way to get out. The clerks and people are just so kind and helpful. A group of us like to go to wineries and listen to music on Sundays. We get a bottle of wine and take snacks. I go with a friend I call my traveling buddy. I miss all of that!”
