The New Year was extra special for area families who welcomed newborns at WellSpan hospitals to usher in 2023.

Abilene Swartz was the first child born in 2023 at WellSpan hospitals. She arrived just 20 minutes into New Year’s Day, at 12:20 a.m. at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital in Lancaster County. The baby girl measured 19 inches and weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces.

At WellSpan York Hospital in York County, Kinsley Myers was the first arrival of 2023, coming into the world at 1:34 a.m. She measured 19.8 inches and weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces.

At WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital, Mae Benedict arrived at 11:34 a.m., measuring 19.5 inches and weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces.

At WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Emma Grace was born at 1:23 p.m., measuring 20 inches and weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces. Both baby and mom are happy and healthy. Fun fact: Emma Grace's mom is a WellSpan Health team member and an obstetrics nurse at that same hospital.

At WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, Sutton Baker was born at 11:14 a.m. on Jan. 2. She measured 19.25 inches and weighed 6 pounds, 14.3 ounces.

We wish all of the newborns and parents a happy, and healthy 2023.
