Grace Dowd: 30, Stevens, textile designer and expectant mom
Why I chose to get the vaccine: “I chose to get it for the safety of my unborn daughter and myself. Not getting it puts me at a higher risk of getting sick and I could not risk the possibility of something happening to one or both of us.”
What I am looking forward to: “I look forward to seeing more of my family and friends. For the safety of myself and my daughter I have kept my bubble small but as more of them become vaccinated, I am also looking forward to letting my parents meet their first grandchild and my sisters to meet their first niece.”
What I would say to someone who has not yet gotten vaccinated: “As a pregnant woman, it was a tough decision to make. However, after getting the go-ahead from the doctors and nurses at my OB practice, I went through with the vaccine at seven months pregnant. I am confident that the decision was absolutely worth it to make sure my baby gets a fighting chance to make it to full term while avoiding jeopardizing her health by becoming seriously ill myself. “
