Ralph Mowen: 75 years old, mayor of Ephrata Borough for 28 years

Why I chose to get the vaccine: “I don’t want to get COVID-19. I also want to do my part to help protect others, so that I won’t become one of those super spreaders.”

What I am looking forward to: “I’m looking forward to being able to return to some semblance of normalcy where we can begin to socialize. My wife and I used to go out to eat with friends and get together with them. We haven’t been able to do that coming up on a year. We miss it! We were regulars at breakfast at Jake and Leona’s Restaurant at the Green Dragon Farmer’s Market. We loved to go to Renninger’s and Black Angus, too.

For years, we have been subscribers to the Ephrata Performing Arts Center. We surely miss that. We haven’t missed a show for 10 years, at least.

My wife is from Greece. Every other year we’ve gone there to visit. We see her family – her sister, nieces and nephews and others, the extended family – also a ton of friends. Last year, we were ready to book a vacation to Spain and that got canceled. We have always gone away on vacations and are excited to get back to where we can do that.”
