Description

Have you experience mental health concerns based on how others interact with you based on your sexual identity? Do you continue to experience discrimination or hate based on your LGBTQ+ status. Within "Affirm Group," many others express similar experiences. This group offers a safe, judgment-free zone where clients are taught skills to better manage a distressing experience. Group sessions will focus on:

  • Processing stressors and foster awareness of strengths and resources related to LGBTQIA identity
  • Learn and practice acceptance and commitment skills
  • Learn mindfulness techniques and other coping skills to increase distress tolerance and emotion regulation
  • Strengthen natural support relationships and interpersonal effectiveness

Clients must identify as LGBTQIA+ and age 18+. Clients cannot have an anti-social personality disorder diagnosis or an intellectual disability that would inhibit their ability to benefit from group (IQ below 70). Current Philhaven patients should talk to their provider. For new Philhaven patients, please call (717) 279-2760 or (800) 459-7497.
