Adults with a diagnosis of ADHD who are looking for help with attention, organization, time management, planning and coping with the emotional impact of ADHD may find this group beneficial. Be ready and willing to actively learn and practice new skills. We have two levels of group Cognitive Behavior Therapy for ADHD (CBT for ADHD). CBT for ADHD 1 is six sessions long and will teach you skills to make peace with the diagnosis, learn time management, how to overcome emotional barriers, prioritize your time and follow through on important responsibilities. CBT for ADHD 1 is a prerequisite for joining CBT for ADHD 2. CBT for ADHD 2 will teach you how to set up and maintain an organizational system, how to plan a project and then follow through. Finally, you will practice incorporating and applying all the skills you learned into one project for the conclusion of this six-session group. Each group will have three main parts:
1. Review of progress at home on the previous skill.
2. Introduction and practice of the new skill
3. Planning homework for the next week.
Group members must have an ADHD diagnosis. Group members must have the ability to communicate effectively in group format. Potential participants cannot have active psychosis, active addiction or active suicidal/homicidal thoughts.
