Family Medicine Residency - WellSpan York Hospital

History, excellence and a spirit of collaboration set our program apart.

Our program is one of first family residencies in the United States. We’ve graduated 367 family physicians, with 13 of them receiving the prestigious Excellence in Graduate Medical Education award from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

As a resident, you’ll benefit from a training that features:

an 8-8-8 program, with eight residents in each year
accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
a Level 3 patient-centered medical home (PCMH) practice site, recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance
a highly sought-after global health track

In 2023 we moved into a new facility, located in the same plaza as WellSpan Lab Services, WellSpan Rehabilitation, WellSpan Pediatric Rehabilitation, WellSpan Nutrition Services and WellSpan Medical Equipment, allowing for excellent coordination of care for our patients.

Over more than half a century of operation, our Family Medicine Residency has had only six program directors, providing a stable foundation for faculty, exceptional collaboration and strong community ties.
