Clinical Excellence & Patient-Focused Care
Maintaining leadership in clinical excellence and implementing programs to provide exceptional, patient- and family- centered care.
Expanding Cardiovascular Services Close to Home
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has taken concrete steps to advance its cardiovascular services for the people of Adams County and northern Maryland. In September 2018, we started offering interventional cardiology services, which includes stenting and advanced electrophysiology procedures. By offering interventional cardiovascular services in Gettysburg, we have the ability to reduce the time needed to restore a heart attack victim’s blood flow and provide the added value in the patient’s recovery process of being surrounded by family and friends. Giving opportunities exist to support our cardiovascular work. Please contact Kristin Vought at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how you can help!
Community Benefit supports identified health and wellness needs of children, neighbors and patients.
When Medication Costs Become Insurmountable
Prescription for Caring provides prescription payment assistance for those who need it most. Imagine if you had to choose between buying groceries or paying for your medication or if you were forced to take half-doses of a needed medication to make your prescription last longer. These scenarios represent a reality for many individuals in Adams County and northern Maryland. They make difficult choices every day about whether or not they can pay for their medication.
Established by the Healthy Community Network, a WellSpan led collaboration of community partners working to improve access to health care services for neighbors in need, Prescription for Caring helps people get their vital medications to stay healthy.

Inspiring & Advancing Nursing Excellence
Committed to developing our nursing leaders at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, the Alan Carroll Lectureship provides a day long series of continuing education opportunities that meet and improve the needs of our community’s nurses. Formed in honor of Dr. Alan Carroll, an Emmitsburg physician, the lectureship is a natural extension of Dr. Carroll’s belief in the value of well-educated and dedicated nurses. The annual lecture provides a forum for clinical education, personal motivation, and the discussion of topics relevant to today’s nursing profession. In addition to the annual lectureship series, the foundation supports several nurses through annual scholarship programs such as the Esther G. Little Nursing Scholarship and the Twila Charles Scholarship.
