WellSpan Health’s four-year psychiatry residency training program offers you broad clinical experience in behavioral health services, which we provide across an extensive continuum of care throughout the region.
WellSpan Health is the regional leader in caring for individuals, families and communities in southcentral Pennsylvania.
Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the program is primarily located at WellSpan York Hospital — the health system’s flagship hospital — and surrounding ambulatory locations. Some core rotations will take place at unique behavioral health settings in beautiful Lebanon and Lancaster Counties.

Our mission
Our psychiatry residency program will provide supportive and comprehensive training that prepares residents to be excellent psychiatrists, passionate advocates and future leaders in psychiatry and healthcare.
Graduating residents will:
- possess the skills and knowledge to comprehensively evaluate, understand, support and treat the breadth of psychiatric disorders utilizing inclusive, patient-centered approaches to care including, but not limited to, biopsychosocial, cultural, spiritual and developmental models
- embrace lifelong learning through direct experience, collaboration with others, and ongoing inquiry and scholarship
- effectively advocate, lead and collaborate with others to embrace and support a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare
- communicate clearly to educate and inform patients, families, stakeholders, colleagues and other healthcare professionals
- strive toward personal growth and the pursuit of meaning, purpose and joy, to maintain their well-being and enjoy a fulfilling and sustainable career
