Since its launch in July 2013, our Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at York Hospital has followed a tradition of excellence in medical education.
We provide comprehensive hands-on and academic training along with protected time for conferences and educational experiences.
Why choose us for your residency?
We asked our residents, and they say the strong points of our program include:
- a program director who cares about your education and a dedicated faculty of Fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons
- daily sign-out and resident education
- good educational stipend, salary and the ability to apply for educational grants
- great hospital benefits
- being part of your own learning experience and a close-knit orthopaedic family
- strong support from the administration, including a dedicated hospital wing for education and support for courses
- Upon graduation, our residents are prepared to go out into the world as well-trained general orthopaedists or to acquire excellent fellowships of their choosing
If you’re more into data and results, our orthopedic residency scored in the 90th percentile on the 2023 Ortho In-Training Exam (OITE) against all programs, including all U.S. allopathic, U.S. osteopathic, Canadian and international programs.
The WellSpan York Hospital Orthopedic Surgery Residency received our ACGME Initiation Accreditation in April 2019 and, as of April 2022, we have Continued Accreditation from the ACGME. We also have Continued Accreditation for Osteopathic Recognition as of January 2023. Previously, the program was accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.
