Our midlife services program is unique in the region, and offers important health services to women in this stage of life. For complex pregnancies, you can feel comfortable that our maternal-fetal medicine team is experts in caring for you and your baby. If you develop a bladder or pelvic condition, our urogynecologic and pelvic reconstructive surgeons can find a solution to meet your needs. Our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at WellSpan York Hospital provides the most comprehensive medical services for premature and critically ill newborns in the south-central Pennsylvania area. When compared with other NICUs across the United States, we consistently rank higher than average in terms of quality and patient outcomes. So, no matter where you deliver your baby, you can rest assured that top-notch neonatology care is available close to home at WellSpan York Hospital.

Our team is involved in research to further the field of women’s health. We also offer our patients the option to participate in research trials for access to the latest treatments before they are widely available.

Breast Health

Our skilled physicians and clinical staff offer screening services and educational programs, diagnostic services and comprehensive treatment services to help you be proactive about your breast health. Our team cares for women’s breast health in all stages of life.

Breastfeeding Services

WellSpan Breastfeeding Services offers comprehensive care to support breastfeeding mothers and babies and help them achieve their goals on their journey. Our team of specially trained lactation experts includes nurses and nurse practitioners who are also internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs).

Childbirth & Family Education

WellSpan offers a wide variety of classes to help you and your family prepare for the birth of a new baby. We are committed to making our courses individualized to meet each person’s and family’s needs. We work with you to understand your needs and wants and try to personalize your experience at WellSpan as much as possible.

Gynecology

Whether you are looking for a gynecologist for your annual preventive visits or you need care for a gynecologic condition, the experienced gynecology team at WellSpan is here for you. Because WellSpan doctors and researchers actively study causes, diagnosis, and treatment options for gynecologic conditions, you can be assured you’ll be receiving the latest in women’s care.

Genetic Counseling

WellSpan has a team of top-notch genetic counselors who can work with you and your family members to assess risk for breast and gynecologic cancers. This service is available to those who have already had cancer, as well as individuals who are interested in assessing their risk factors.

Gynecologic Surgery (benign)

At WellSpan Gynecologic Surgery, we perform a variety of surgeries on the female pelvic anatomy and urologic areas – from minor to major procedures. We offer alternative, less-invasive surgical options for many conditions. Our fellowship-trained gynecologic surgeons and their staff offer comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plans in a compassionate environment, respectful of your sensitivities.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

At WellSpan Maternal-Fetal Medicine, our fellowship-trained physicians and advance practice clinicians provide care for women with both normal and complicated pregnancies, such as multiples pregnancies, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, advanced maternal age, and other risk factors. We work closely with your OB/GYN to ensure that your pregnancy is as safe and stress-free as possible.

Maternity Services

WellSpan Health provides a variety of services, the latest technology, and an unparalleled level of care for you and your baby. From parent education classes to expertise in high-risk pregnancies and the region's most advanced neonatal intensive care unit, our facilities and programs are designed to keep your family at the very center of a most memorable event.

Midlife Services

Unique to our region, Midlife Services at WellSpan provides specialized care for women in the perimenopause and menopause phases of life. We focus on assessing and optimizing your bone, breast, and cardiovascular health – all areas that can decline during the midlife period.

Midwifery

Certified Nurse-Midwives at WellSpan provide women’s health care services for all stages of a woman’s life – including annual exams and screenings, family planning, contraception and perimenopause/menopause. As part of this entire lifecycle of women’s health care, we care for women during pregnancy who are interested in a more natural, self-directed approach to childbirth.

Neonatology

The Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at WellSpan York Hospital provides the most comprehensive medical services for premature and critically ill newborns in our region. Whether you deliver at WellSpan York Hospital, another WellSpan hospital, or a hospital outside of our network, rest assured that our NICU is prepared to provide world-class care for your newborn.

Obstetrics

Whether you have a normal pregnancy or experience high-risk complications, the obstetricians at WellSpan are here to provide you with the care you need. We are committed to providing high quality obstetrical care to all women, regardless of medical condition, insurance coverage, or other factors.

Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery

At WellSpan Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, we diagnose and treat the full range of pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. We keep abreast of scientific, technologic and procedural advances in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery to offer you a full range of options for treating your health issues.

Adolescent & Pediatric Gynecology

The Adolescent and Pediatric Gynecology team at WellSpan offers expert care to treat a wide variety of gynecologic conditions in young female athletes. We also provide regular gynecologic exams and guidance on health issues teens may face in adolescence.

Women's Health Support Groups

Support groups are available in York and Adams County for parents of NICU patients, women with PCOS and those who have experienced the loss of a baby or who choose to continue a pregnancy after a poor prenatal diagnosis.


Some WellSpan hospitals have received the Blue Distinction in Maternity Care from Blue Cross Blue Shield, which recognizes expertise and efficiency in maternity services. WellSpan is proud to participate in the Keystone 10 Initiative, a statewide breastfeeding quality program that aims to improve the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania moms and babies.

One of our urogynecologic surgeons was awarded a regional “Top Doctor” award in 2014 from Castle Connolly. Both of our urogynecologic surgeons have also received teaching awards from the residency program for excellence in teaching.
