A patient’s spirit needs to be healed if their body is to recover wholly. Our spiritual care program's mission is to highlight the relationship between spirituality and health. As part of a holistic care plan, we make spiritual care available to all patients, family and staff.
Our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program makes this spiritual support possible. We offer clinical pastoral residency, internship and supervisory programs to not only meet the needs of patients, family and staff, but also provide a stepping stone for students deepening their commitment to ministry.
Since we began our program, more than 500 students have participated and thousands of patients, visitors and team members have found peace and spiritual well-being during times of stress.
Our programs
We offer three CPE programs through our Department of Spiritual Care and Education:
- CPE residency program
- summer CPE and extended CPE program
- supervisory certified educator candidate CPE program
Each program has different requirements, goals and timeframes for education. Our CPE programs are available at WellSpan York Hospital, with some limited opportunities at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital.
