Our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program offers Summer and Extended internships, residency and Certified Educator opportunities to expand your studies. Below you’ll find detailed information and requirements for each program, including costs, prerequisites and other necessities to enroll.
CPE Residency
Our residency program is one year in length and begins August 23, 2026 and ends August 21, 2027. Residents will receive a stipend and benefits as part of the program, including:
- annual stipend of $44,500
- full-time work schedule
- eligibility for employee benefits
- meals provided at no cost
- eligibility for Level I A/B or Level II A/B CPE curriculum
CPE Internship requirements
These requirements apply to both our Summer internship and Extended internship programs. Once you have been accepted, WellSpan Workforce Development will contact you via email to provide instructions. You must complete mandatory internship requirements at least one month before your internship start date. All fees associated with the internship are the responsibility of the student.
Summer CPE Program – Gettysburg
Our Summer CPE Program begins May 26, 2026 and continues through August 14, 2026. It's based at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital and may include opportunities at several other locations.
The tuition cost for our Summer CPE Program is $650. Students will receive:
- full-time work schedule
- meals provided at no cost
- eligibility for Level I A/B or Level II A/B CPE curriculum
Extended CPE Program – York
Our Extended CPE Program begins in October 6, 2026 and continues through April 12, 2027 (Mondays only). This program is based at WellSpan York Hospital.
The tuition cost for our extended CPE program is $650. Students will receive:
- part-time work schedule
- meals provided at no cost
- eligibility for Level I A/B or Level II A/B CPE curriculum
Extended CPE Program – Gettysburg
Our extended CPE Program begins in October 6, 2026 and continues through April 12, 2027 (Mondays only). This program is based at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital.
