Amenities and guest services


Visitors and employees at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital may purchase meals, beverages and snacks in our cafeteria, which is located on the first floor of the hospital. Breakfast, lunch and dinner specials are featured on a board outside the entrance of the cafeteria.

Hours of Operation: 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily
Breakfast: 6:30 to 10 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Soup & Salad Bar, Deli and Grill: 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

We accept cash and credit cards. You can find an ATM machine near the E-Care waiting room, located on the first floor of the hospital.


Javateas is located in the lobby of the Ephrata Health Pavilion. Open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., the shop features coffee, beverages, teas and pastries for the convenience of patients, visitors and staff members.

We accept cash and credit cards. You can find an ATM machine near the E-Care waiting room, located on the first floor of the hospital.

Vending Machines

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day and are located near the Emergency Department waiting area and the entrance to the Family Maternity Unit. We offer a variety of hot and cold beverages, snacks and sandwiches.

Reminder to Patients

Remember: If you are coming to the hospital for a procedure, please check with your nurse before eating or drinking.

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has two gift shops that feature a fine selection of cards, gifts and magazines. One is located in the main lobby, while the other can be found in the lobby of the Ephrata Health Pavilion adjacent to the hospital. Volunteer operate both shops.

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.
  • All hours are based upon availability of staffing.

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has partnered with Royer's Flowers to create a convenient online ordering system for families and friends who would like to send flowers to patients at our hospital. Select the flower arrangement, plant or gift in our customized store, and Royer's will deliver your order directly to the hospital.

Can't get in to visit a friend or family member in the hospital in person? Send some words of cheer or encouragement to a friend or loved one in the hospital. WellSpan eGreetings are a free service and available for patients at WellSpan Hospitals.

Send an online eGreeting

Complementary wireless internet service (also known as WiFi) is available in patient rooms and in many areas throughout the hospital. Please note that for safety reasons laptop computers should not be used within two feet of electronic patient care equipment.

Remote-controlled color television is provided in every patient room as a free service. We offer access to local channels and many of your favorite cable channels. For your convenience, every patient room also has a telephone that may be used for local calls.

A meditation room (chapel) is located on the first floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.

Pastoral Care at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is available at all times. The hospital staff chaplain is in-house Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, chaplains are available for emergencies at night and on the weekends. A meditation room (chapel) is located on the first floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital maintains a current list of interpreters to ensure communications with those patients who do not speak English or understand the English language.

CMS 5 Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have ranked WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital as 5 Stars for Overall Hospital Quality. The overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings apply across the country based on each hospitals performance across five quality categories including: mortality, safety or care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.



Leapfrog Grade Designation

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. For the most recent reporting period, WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital earned a 'B' grade designation.


High Performing by U.S. News and World Report

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has met or exceeded the criteria to be designated a high performing provider for 2023-2024 in the treatment of back surgery (spinal fusion), heart attack, knee replacement. The annual Best Hospitals ranking evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Rankings are largely based on objective measures like volume, discharge-to-home rates and quality of nursing.



WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital was named as a recipient of the following 2023 Specialty Excellence Award for:

  • Coronary Intervention Excellence Award
  • Gastrointestinal Care Excellence Award
  • Gastrointestinal Surgery Excellence Award
  • Critical Care Excellence Award (2022-2023)


Get with the Guidelines

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has achieved the following from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) awards for 2023:

  • Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and recognized on the Target: Heart Failure and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and recognized on the Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes

The GWTG awards recognize the hospital meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and heart-care-related patients.


Money Best Maternity Hospital

In 2022, Money, a personal finance website, partnered with The Leapfrog Group to develop the first Best Maternity Hospital ranking. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital was ranked among the best maternity hospitals in America, according to Money. Money and The Leapfrog Group used maternity care data from the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey to compile the list of best hospitals. To qualify for the list, eligible hospitals were required to carry an "A" or "B" letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for spring 2022 and meet criteria specific to providing maternity care.


Pathway to Excellence Hospital

The American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) has designated WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital with Pathway to Excellence status. Similar to ANCC's Magnet Program, Pathway to Excellence is designed for smaller hospitals and focuses on the importance of a positive professional environment for nurses and its impact on the quality of care provided to patients.


Gold Level Safe Sleep Facility

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is recognized as a Gold Level Safe Sleep facility for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep.  As a nationally certified Safe Sleep Hospital, the hospital is recognized by Cribs for Kids for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and for providing training programs for healthcare team members and family caregivers. 


Keystone 10 Facility

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is designated as a Keystone 10 facility, for implementing evidence-based maternity care practices to help improve breastfeeding care and rates, as well as improving the health of new mothers and babies. Keystone 10, administered by the Pa. Department of Health and the Pa. Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a quality improvement breastfeeding initiative that began in 2014. It is aimed at improving the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania infants, mothers and families.


Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs Certification

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital’s Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs have been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification recognizes our commitment to improving the quality of life for patients by enhancing standards of care in these rehabilitation programs.


Det Norske Veritas – Germanischer Lloyd (DNV) Accreditation

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has been accredited by DNV since 2019.  The accreditation integrates ISO 9001 with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and focuses on addressing the continuum of care and a commitment to quality and safety.


American College of Surgeons Accreditation

The Ephrata Cancer Center at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), facilitated by the American College of Surgeons. During the accreditation process the hospital demonstrated compliance with standards which focus on center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.


Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center

WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital has been recognized for delivering high-quality, effective, and cost-efficient specialty care by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Meeting specific quality standards has provided the hospital with the opportunity to become a Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care and Knee and Hip Replacement. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital is also a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.


Comprehensive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program is overseen by the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital went through a rigorous review of the practices and care to earn the distinction.
