Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

I decided to become a doctor because it was a way to combine my love of people and my love of science. I also enjoy medicine because it is a career that constantly pushes me to improve, both personally and intellectually. I feel grateful that I can help my patients in times of trouble, and that I can share what I know with my patients, students, and residents.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I like working with patients as they manage multiple complex diseases, especially older adults who may be dealing with several serious diseases simultaneously. I also work with patients facing addiction, especially to alcohol, tobacco, and opioids. I am particularly interested in the connection between the mind and the body--I think that our psyche controls more of our physical being than we give it credit for.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

When I'm not at work I spend time with my husband, children and dog. We do the typical running around getting the kids to their activities, the dog walked, and the errands done. I like to garden, hike, swim, and travel.
