I can truly say that my father inspired me to become a physician. I grew up in Nigeria and watched my father, a public health physician, take care of the sick and educate his patients on the importance of healthy habits in the prevention of disease. I remember accompanying him to our village on several occasions in the 80's and observed him providing care in the most compassionate manner ever. He always appeared satisfied and was his happiest after a long day in the clinic. It was obvious that he derived a lot of satisfaction and fulfillment practicing medicine and I decided I wanted the same for myself. I must say that my decision to become a doctor was definitely the right one as helping my patients with their various medical conditions has been extremely rewarding.
My background is Anesthesiology and Internal Medicine with specialty training in Pain Management. I am a firm believer in a multidisciplinary and multimodality approach in the management of chronic painful conditions and definitely understand that poorly treated pain can lead to undue personal suffering and limitation of various physical activities. I will work with my patients to create a personalized pain management plan as I realize that "one size does not fit all".
I love spending time with my family and friends. I am a culinary enthusiast and like trying out new Nigerian and Russian recipes. I am also very much interested in interior decorating and would some day hope to stage homes for sale. I enjoy reading about personal finance and trends in the stock market.
