Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

My father was a child psychiatrist, and I always thought he was the coolest so I followed in his footsteps. I was drawn initially to family medicine because of the long-term relationships with patients. Treating individuals with autism and intellectual disability has allowed me to do psychiatry, which I love, while maintaining those long-term relationships with patients and their families. Individuals with autism and intellectual disability and their families are quiet heroes and I feel blessed to walk life with them.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I served as a General Medical Officer in the United States Navy. Upon completing my child psychiatry fellowship I remained at Brown University as a member of the medical school faculty. I participated in early childhood research under a National Institute of Mental Health research grant. I then served as an attending psychiatrist in the Bradley Hospital Developmental Disabilities Program, a New England resource for individuals with developmental disorders. I came to Philhaven Hospital in 1999 and started CADD in 2005.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I enjoy spending time with family, friends and my church community. I feel blessed by my coworkers at CADD-They have become a second family. I enjoy reading the bible, books on history and classic novels. I also enjoy doing almost anything outside such as biking, gardening, hiking or camping.
