Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I was born into a family of physicians and ministers. It became important to me to go into a "helping profession". As I watched my family members help others, I decided that a career in medicine was a way that I, too, could serve my community and use my talents.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I chose the right profession! I am very happy to be an OB/GYN and enjoy all aspects of the field. The joy of being present for the birth of a new baby still thrills me. Surgery provides an instant gratification that a problem is being solved. My gynecologic patients give me the opportunity to form relationships that have lasted for over 20 years!
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I am not seeing patients or completing all of the tasks associated with this, I like to spend time with my family (husband and two young adult children as well as my extended family here in York). I do like to be active. I swim laps on a regular basis. I enjoy taking long walks, biking, skiing and kayaking, but I also enjoy reading.
