Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare

To be a trusted, reliable source of medical information and to advocate for the care that leads to the best outcomes. Kidney disease rarely travels alone, so I treat the whole patient, not one organ at a time.

What I want my patients to know about me

Patients come to my CKD and obesity clinic for their kidneys, often focused on their weight or their diabetes. My focus is bigger than both: preventing the heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure that threaten patients with kidney disease — because for many, the heart is the greater danger before the kidney ever is. The medications I choose work across the kidneys, heart, diabetes, and metabolism together, and when I prescribe a weight-loss medication, the number on the scale is the least of my goals — I am treating for fewer heart attacks and strokes and a better quality of life. This is cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) medicine.

I am board-certified in nephrology and obesity medicine. Moreover, I had advanced training in obesity medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital Weight Center. I am certified in heart failure, and I am a licensed dietitian nutritionist with a master’s in public health nutrition. Nutrition is built into your care, not referred out. I also focus on onconephrology, protecting kidney health in patients with cancer, and lecture nationally and internationally on these topics.

I speak English, French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish, and I will meet you wherever you are in your health journey.
