Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare?:

I felt drawn to medicine from the first Fisher Price medical kit that I received at age three. I found that through life, I was kind of the “go-to” person for answers in different situations. I found that I was supportive and knowledgeable in how to manage both personal issues and concerns, not only medically, but socially as well. I have never seen myself doing anything but medicine since I was three (well, the only exception would have been a Top Gun fighter pilot, but the eye doctor ended that one early on).

What I want my patients to know about me?:

Patients should expect to be heard and listened to. In addition, I enjoy teaching, and I try my hardest to bring this to the bedside and patient encounter as well. Like “informed consent” in surgery, I strive for “informed treatment” in medicine, making sure a patient is armed with the best knowledge required to make any decision regarding care. I remember to always treat people with dignity and respect and like they are my own family. I enjoy the hunt and solving difficult cases for patients. I will give my personal best to make sure you are comfortable. If I am not teaching and/or helping you understand my decisions, then I am not doing my job correctly.
