Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

I chose to pursue a career in medicine to help people. It sounds cliche, but it's true. We only have one body in our lifetime, and I want to help people care for themselves both mentally and physically in order to enjoy a high quality life full of health and happiness.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I began my nursing career working as a bedside nurse in the intensive care unit and progressed through schooling to become a nurse practitioner. Through these years of experience I became fascinated with psychiatry and how deeply the mind and body are interconnected. I am also working hard to raise two daughters.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I love being outside, usually this means on the deck in the sunshine with a book. I find mountain biking exhilarating and challenging, and although not a great rider, I enjoy trying. And of course, I spend time with my kids and our dogs as much as possible.
