Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

To be quite honest, I am not completely sure why I decided to pursue a career in anesthesia. When the time came to think about a specialty, I dedicated a lot of time to thinking about the right decision. Should I stay in conventional nursing path or challenge my skills and abilities? I knew I enjoyed the sciences: chemistry, physiology and biology. After several long discussions with other nurses, physicians and medical students, I was determined to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. This career perfectly couples bedside care with the art and science of nursing. The fundamentals of knowledge, vigilance and compassion are delivered to each patient every day. I truly look forward to meeting new patients and new experiences on a daily basis.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I am a lifelong resident of Adams County. I started my nursing career in 1995 at Harrisburg Hospital working in pediatrics and neonatal ICU. I also have experience in several other specialty areas including: drug and alcohol detox, cardiology, emergency medicine and pediatric home care. I am a graduate of Penn State University and completed my graduate studies at York College of PA/ WellSpan Health Nurse Anesthetist program in 2010. I enjoy working and living in the community. It is not uncommon for me to care for lifelong acquaintances. I am honored to provide care to our community and extended family.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

In my spare time, I am always looking for a new adventure. I enjoy many hobbies from watching my child rodeo to competing in competitive obstacle trail rides, to quilting, cooking and making custom clothing. My family is my focus, and we are on the road nearly every weekend for some type of equine-related activity. I also hold a board member position with the PA High School Rodeo Association, volunteer on weekends as a medical provider for special events and chair several fundraising committees. In addition, I recently learned to scuba dive. I am looking forward to new underwater adventures.
