Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

I chose medicine because it combines my love of science with being able to help people. I chose family medicine because it allows me to deliver babies, care for patients for their entire lives and develop long-term relationships with my patients. Coming from a family of immigrants and hard-working people with humble beginnings, it was important to me as a doctor to meet the needs of the underserved. I'm happy to have found a position at WellSpan, where I can care for diverse patient populations such as Spanish speakers, the Plain community, and farming and rural communities.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I'm passionate about caring for pregnant women, kids, families and those struggling with chronic illness. I absolutely love delivering babies and then watching them grow. I also really love helping patients on their journey to wellness. I want to always be a partner and supporter. I will offer my knowledge and guidance without placing judgment, because I genuinely care about my patients. As a full-time, working single mom to three kids, I get that life is busy, and it's hard to focus on yourself sometimes. I consider my own journey to wellness very much a "work in progress."

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I spend hours teaching my kids how to grow their own food in our family garden. I love exploring local farmer's markets and bargain shopping at mud and yard sales. I work out stress by "dancing it off" to music but I particularly love salsa and Latin music. As a part of my "work in progress," our family goes to the Ephrata Rec Center where I love to try Zumba and yoga classes, swim with my kids, and am training to run my second half-marathon. I did the 2018 Bird-in-Hand half-marathon last year and plan to run it again this fall. I love to travel and learn languages and was a Peace Corps volunteer from 2006-2008 in Nicaragua and speak Spanish fluently.
