Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

Growing up in a family where medical field was an intrinsic aspect, it was indisputable that I will take the same path. Following the paragon of my grandfather George Emil Palade, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology and Medicine, I stepped timidly on the passage of the art of medicine, restoring and preserving health. I found myself resonating at people's ailments and needs rather then work in the research lab. I did not foresee the amazing highs of impacting someone's life, nor the deep lows when the outcome is not the one expected. Every day it is a gift to have the opportunity to care for my patients in their most vulnerable times, and every day it is a privilege to serve my patients who are entrusting their health to me.

What I want my patients to know about me:

In a world dominated by informatics and automatization, I strongly believe the most powerful tool in medicine is doctor-patient communication. I do listen to my patients concerns , help them to better understand their conditions and how to use the tools available to correct their illness . I am focused on preventing illnesses, so guiding my patients on a healthy life style is essential. Getting the patients actively involved in their own care, by learning about their conditions and understanding the treatment is the paradigm of my daily practice.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

After my last patient of the day is discharged, I continue to work on charts, reviewing reports and completing documentation. I am a strong believer that is our responsibility to prepare the younger generation, so I am actively involved in mentoring students who are choosing a medical career. Outside of my office I do enjoy a broad spectrum of activities from traveling, hiking in wilderness and yoga, to listening to music of all genres. My main hobby is photography, so I take various classes in this subject and I use every opportunity to take beautiful shots.
