WellSpan Health is proud to announce the donation of a vehicle from its WellSpan emergency medical services to the Newberry Township Fire Department on May 6.    

The vehicle, a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, will serve as a command and support unit for the Newberry Township Fire Department.

“Strong partnerships between WellSpan EMS and local public safety departments are essential to the safety and resilience of the communities we serve,” said Matthew Exley, interim EMS director, WellSpan Health and interim EMS chief, WellSpan EMS. “We are proud to donate this WellSpan EMS Advanced Life Support unit to the Newberry Township Fire Department, where it will continue its mission in a new role as a command vehicle. This donation reflects our shared commitment to public safety, operational readiness and supporting the first responders who answer the call every day.” 

The vehicle will assist with emergency response operations, incident coordination and support functions throughout the township, including responses related to the hospital and helicopter landing zone operations, said Kyle Harbold, chief of the Newberry Township Fire Department.

“As a volunteer fire department, donations and partnerships such as this have a significant impact on our ability to continue providing reliable service to the community,” said Harbold. “This vehicle will strengthen our operational readiness while allowing us to responsibly manage department resources. We are extremely grateful for WellSpan’s continued support of local emergency services.”
