Postpartum Preeclampsia Follow-Up Program

Follow-up care for life to lessen your risk of heart attack and stroke

Our approach to postpartum preeclampsia follow-up

For too long, women have been underrepresented in medicine, but WellSpan's Heart and Vascular team is dedicated to changing that. Our postpartum preeclampsia follow-up program demonstrates our commitment to partnering with preeclampsia survivors to lessen their risk of heart disease — no matter how long ago that diagnosis of preeclampsia was.

Having preeclampsia during or after a pregnancy means you are more likely to develop diabetes, high blood pressure or suffer a heart attack or stroke during your lifetime. Your risk can be even higher if you've had preeclampsia and delivered a preterm baby, had a low birth-weight baby or suffered from severe preeclampsia more than once.

But with WellSpan by your side, we work with you to identify any warning signs of heart or vascular disease early to avoid life-threatening events. Our team of specially trained cardiologists focus on you. They understand that a woman's heart health isn't evaluated and measured the same as a man's and that pregnancy history matters.

Why choose WellSpan for postpartum preeclampsia follow-up care?

Our doctors are trained to understand how women's hearts can be different. This means you can trust us to give you the best care you deserve. Our team of experts will work with you to make a plan that fits your needs, both now and in the future.

Tests and treatments

If you need additional monitoring or testing, our postpartum preeclampsia follow-up team has access to the most advanced medical technologies for diagnosing heart conditions, such as:
