Expert care, right here

Our NICUs in York, Chambersburg and Ephrata offer the most NICU beds in the region. All WellSpan hospitals have achieved the highest level of safe sleep certification, and York Hospital is the first hospital in Pennsylvania to be named a Cribs for Kids Gold Level Safe Sleep Champion.

Access to pediatric surgeons from Johns Hopkins Children's Center

We're proud to collaborate with the expert pediatric surgeons at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, one of the nation's top pediatric hospitals. This partnership gives your newborn access to the best possible surgical care while remaining close to home.

Expert lactation care and support

Our team supports the best possible start for your baby through expert lactation care and guidance. We also specialize in techniques to assist premature babies who have difficulty breastfeeding. Pasteurized donor breast milk is also available to help until mom’s supply is established.

Advanced technology

Our NICUs are equipped with the latest technology, including high-frequency ventilation for premature lungs. WellSpan also pioneered the first therapeutic hypothermia (“head cooling”) program in the region to prevent brain injury after a difficult delivery.

Virtual monitoring for peace of mind

We know it’s stressful to leave your baby in the NICU. When you can’t be at the bedside, you (and other family members you choose) can view your baby from home using our secure and private AngelEye camera system (only available at our York Hospital and Chambersburg Hospital NICUs).

Family-centered support

We know your journey as a NICU parent and caregiver doesn’t end when you take your baby home. At WellSpan, we remain committed to families even after their newborn returns home. Our NICU Parent Support Group in York and annual reunions allow families to connect and share their stories.
