WellSpan Health today announces for the eighth time in the last 10 years, WellSpan has been named one of the nation's "Digital Health Most Wired" health systems by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), underscoring WellSpan's efforts to lean into innovative technological advances to improve both patient care and the patient experience.
"This award highlights our dedication to personalizing experiences for each and every one of our patients. When they feel seen and heard, we can be sure we are fully equipped as providers to help them through their healthcare journey," said Dr. R. Hal Baker, senior vice president and chief digital information officer, WellSpan Health. "Through this digital transformation, we are creating smooth and reliable care experiences for our communities and ensuring that we are always there as their trusted partner."
The health system has embraced innovation in patient care in recent years, launching several virtual care options for patients, including WellSpan Virtual On-Demand Care. This is a partnership with the nation's only Epic-based virtual care platform, KeyCare, that gives patients access to a high-quality virtual urgent care experience 24/7. WellSpan also now offers Duo, a convenient care option that allows patients to regularly interact with and maintain a primary care physician solely in an online setting.
The Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations use advanced technologies in their clinical and business programs to improve the health of their communities. More than 38,000 organizations completed the survey this year to assess the adoption, integration, and impact of technologies in healthcare at all stages of development.
WellSpan received recognition for the fifth consecutive year in two categories: domestic ambulatory and acute care settings. It also received the Quality Award for both the ambulatory and acute categories.
Organizations like WellSpan that attain CHIME's Digital Health Certified Ambulatory Level 8 status – the Quality Award – have deployed technologies and strategies to analyze data and begin achieving meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes, according to the official designation.
Through its Analytics Center of Excellence, WellSpan continues to develop targeted ways to engage patients in order to improve care and increase the efficiency of operations.
