David Vega, MD, MBA, is senior vice president and chief quality officer for WellSpan Health. An emergency physician, he completed medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine and his residency through the York Hospital/Penn State emergency medicine residency program. He earned his MBA from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
David’s previous roles with WellSpan include leadership in the emergency medicine residency program and service as department chair of emergency medicine at York Hospital. He was also the vice president of medical affairs at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital before becoming senior vice president and chief medical officer with WellSpan Medical Group, WellSpan’s employed practice division. In July 2026, he became chief quality officer for the health system.
He has served on national boards with the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American Medical Group Association Foundation, as well as on several other nonprofit boards. He has an extensive body of scholarly work, including numerous publications and presentations at regional and national levels.
