Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
My dream at the age of 18 was to become a professional baseball player. I was All-Conference as a freshman at Ursinus College and majored in pre-med as a "backup plan." I transferred to Baylor University, and fortunately, as it turned out, I was not good enough to make the higher level team. I therefore concentrated all of my efforts into my academic studies. I had come to realize that my energies were better placed into working toward caring for others. I began a path to orthopedic surgery, but when my mother-in-law developed breast cancer, I developed a passion for general surgery.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I try to care for you as I would want to be cared for. I have been happily married to my wife, Judy, for over 30 years. I have, as of today, three children and four grandchildren, who I adore. I have been a part of the Gettysburg/Adams County community for nearly 25 years.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I love outdoor activities like hiking. I spend most of my free time with my wife and grandkids. I love traveling, and love to go to the shore/beach. I'm originally from Philadelphia, so I like to watch the Phillies and the Eagles when I can.
