Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
My dad was a police officer when I was growing up and I always knew that I wanted to work in public service and help others. I went to Johns Hopkins as a child for heart surgery and decided nursing was my calling in life after having such wonderful nurses. Since that moment, I have always strived to be the best nurse and now provider that I can be.
I love what I do because I get to help patients in my own community feel better while educating them on chronic and acute conditions. There will always be gaps in medicine and I enjoy working to close these gaps and providing patient centered care.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I love to meet people and listen to their experiences. I think that if a provider can take the time to learn about you personally, it gives them the benefit of understanding the health challenges that each individual may have.
My husband and I are foster parents and this brings such joy and sorrow (at times) to our lives being able to help kids and teach them about unconditional love.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Family is important to me. I married my high school sweetheart and we spent a few years traveling with the US Army before he was discharged and we settled down in York, PA. We have three sons who keep us busy most days. We have a passion for Jeeps and enjoy being outside with our kids swimming, hiking, playing golf, and enjoying each other's company. Kids grow too fast and we are trying to enjoy them as much as we can before they are grown and starting their own families.
