Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent many years as an intensive care/trauma nurse. I enjoyed the interaction with the patients and their families, providing specialized care, comforting families and educating. It seemed like a perfect transition to provider.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I started my career as a staff nurse in 1982, worked in nursing for 32 years prior to returning to school to become a nurse practitioner. I believe that taking care of patients is a privilege. Every clinical decision should be a shared decision between the patient and healthcare provider. I strive to educate my patients on the disease so that they may make informed decisions to improve their health and quality of life.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy traveling, walks with my Jack Russell terriers either in the woods or on the beach, and spending time with my extended family. My most favorite past time is my photography.
