Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I come from a family of physicians and from a young age I felt a calling to the profession. I was drawn to fill the role of the physician who brought calm to the chaos and unknown of being sick. What is scarier than not being able to breathe, being worried you have cancer, or being so sick that you need to be in the intensive care unit? I was drawn to try to help the people when they were the most sick and most afraid. During my training I felt my talents were best applied in the intensive care unit and in pulmonary medicine. It was so rewarding for me trying to help the sickest of the sick in the ICU get better or help someone understand what a lung nodule is and doing procedures to help diagnose what it is.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I grew up in a small town in Upstate New York, Baldwinsville, which is not too different from York.
I think education is just as important as any medication or procedure I may prescribe. I want you to leave your appointment not only knowing a plan to feel better, but also understanding why we're doing what we're doing. I was lucky enough to be trained at an outstanding institution and graduate with the knowledge and proficiency to diagnose and treat not only the most complex cases needing advanced procedures like bronchoscopy, but also grounded enough to treat the common problems like cough, asthma, and COPD.
There is nothing more rewarding to me than when a patient returns to me and happy that their cough has improved or their breathing is better and they can do the activities that once limited them.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Exploring PA and Maryland, hiking this beautiful country, saving the world.
