Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:

Summer of my senior year with no real idea of what I wanted to pursue as a career, I had the greatest opportunity to spend the summer recess at a hospital with an amazing surgeon. I was so affected by this compassionate ,skillful and humble surgeon with serious commitment to the well being of his patients that it sparked my desire to pursue a career in medicine and to become a surgeon. After 43 years as a physician, I am still trying to model my life after him.

What I want my patients to know about me:

I am interested in the person first and the interaction of the patient with me as an individual and as a doctor to whom he/she has decided to place a trust. I want them to feel that I listened and was empathetic to their concerns. I will always discuss options, educate them and all decisions reached on treatment will be as vital partners in their health care.

What I do when I'm not seeing patients:

I am blessed with a great family. My hobbies have been hiking, scuba diving and kayaking. Now I do less of these. I am an avid reader and love to travel and experience cultures. I try and spend as much time as I can with my grandchildren who give me great joy!
