Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I chose a career in medicine after my first child was delivered by a Certified Nurse Midwife 16 years ago. She showed me true compassion. This gave me the drive to want to provide care to women. Caring for women is a very rewarding career. You're able to be there for some of the most important moments in a woman's life. I spent the last ten years working as a Registered Nurse and learning how to provide compassionate care to patients. I have many years in a freestanding birth center and labor and delivery hospital setting as a nurse. This gave me the experience I needed to go back to graduate school and pursue my ultimate dream of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My focus is on the individual woman. I want every woman to feel empowered when she leaves my office. I hope to provide a compassionate, comprehensive visit that ensures all their questions are answered. I want to ensure she feels in control of her health decisions and is a part of the team. I also hope to focus on education and preventative medicine to ensure women can make the best decision for themselves and their families.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I am not seeing patients I am at home with my family. I have six wonderful children and a very supportive husband. We have a very busy family and enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible. We enjoy walks, picnics, or adventures at the amusement park. We also enjoy calm evenings at home for a Sunday dinner and a movie as a family.
