Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
My desire to help people and make a difference in their lives started my pursuit of a career in nursing. My first nursing degree was from Penn State Mont Alto in 1997. I completed my BSN from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2012 and completed my MSN, FNP degree from Widener University in 2018. While I have a family history of diabetes mellitus Type 2, having my own child diagnosed with DM Type 1 at 10 years old started my desire to help those who have been diagnosed with DM2 and DM1. During my time as a critical care nurse, I found that I had a knack for working with newly diagnosed diabetes patients, as well as helping those who had already been diagnosed, to understand how this disease impacted their overall health and wellness. I am fortunate to be able to work with an incredible group of physicians, nurse practitioners and office staff.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I grew up in Waynesboro and have extended family located within Franklin County, PA and Washington County, MD. I consider it a privilege to care for the people of Franklin County and the surrounding areas.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My husband and I enjoy taking our Harley Davidson touring motorcycle for a ride as often as we can. I also enjoy short track racing, watching movies, reading for fun, spending time with my adult children and their spouse/significant other, as well as my large extended family.
