Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I have worked as a registered nurse (RN) since 1995. During that time, I was drawn to women's health. I spent 14 years as a labor and delivery/maternity RN. I choose to pursue my career further as a certified nurse midwife and women's health nurse practitioner to have more autonomy. I desired to work one-on-one with women in making positive life choices for them and their families.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I genuinely care about my patient outcomes during pregnancy, not just for my patient, but for the family as a whole. I would like them to know that the health choices they make now have an impact on the rest of their lives. My goal is to educate patients on lifestyle changes for future health, especially with my diabetic patients.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I run around attending the extra-curricular activities of my teenagers. I try to attend every soccer game, track meet, football game, choral concert, etc. It is fun watching your children grow and achieve their goals. Other than that, I enjoy reading, yoga, and watching weird sci-fi series on Netflix.
