Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I have always had a love for science and working with people and medicine was an excellent combination of the two. Before I started medical school, I worked with a breast surgeon who opened my eyes to a specialty that I did not know about previously. Since then, I knew I wanted to be a breast surgeon that strives to better understand the science behind breast disease and translate that into excellent care for my patients. Throughout medical school and training, I always kept an open mind about other specialties that I was exposed to, however, breast surgery always remained the one that intrigued and energized me to want to make a difference.
What I want my patients to know about me:
Although my specialty is to treat breast cancer and other breast conditions, I want my patients to know that I see them as a whole person and understand the emotional, social, and very personal aspects that are involved. Choosing me as your provider means I become part of a very personal journey and I will do my best to make it easier along the way. We will work together and I will work toward being a compassionate provider and teacher. Furthermore, I strive to help my patients to be strengthened and to maintain a sense of normalcy. Overall, my goal is to provide the highest level of care to my patients which also involves contributing to further understanding the evolving science of breast disease, working towards improved treatments, keeping up with new advances, and working productively with a team.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I love spending time with my family when I am not at work. My family is the most important thing to me and I cherish the time we have together. We love cooking together and binge-watching good shows on the weekends. Having children running around always keeps us on our toes and entertained. We also enjoy road trips and the moments when we can just be silly and laugh until it hurts.
