Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I was blessed to have the opportunity to be a Boy Scout as a child/teen and I believe getting my Merit Badge in First Aid started it all. I also was fascinated by the stories my wife Linda would tell me, regarding the residents and surgeons at Chestnut Hill Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., where she was enrolled as a student nurse. Upon graduating from college (West Chester University), I decided to pursue the pharmaceutical industry. This was the final incentive for me. After four years of calling on physicians daily, I was off to medical school.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My wife Linda and I started our practice in Ephrata in 1980. In doing so, I joined the staff of Ephrata Community Hospital doing Family Practice which included Obstetrics, Emergency Medicine and hospital based medicine for 37 years. Now I have transitioned to office-based Family Practice with a great interest in surgical office procedures. Many of our surgical procedures are accomplished with laser surgery. This has been a great benefit to our patients, along with other procedures which we performed.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My passions have included my faith in Christ, as well as family activities and fishing. I have had the opportunity to fish in Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, and Minnesota, for various types of fish. My favorite fish to catch is the smallmouth bass. My family and I enjoy boating and water sports. One of our favorite pastimes is Chesapeake Bay Crabbing. We catch blue claw crabs by a trot line, 1200 ft long ( baited with chicken necks). We steam our catch in Old Bay Seasoning and then all get together for a crab feast. In the future we hope to visit our youngest son & family in Australia.
