Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked as a registered nurse for eight years and found that I have multiple interests, including women’s health, mental health and emergency/trauma medicine. I didn’t want to specialize in one field and miss out on my other interests, so I chose family care where I will get to see a variety of specialties. Family medicine will allow me to be “the jack of all trades” and keep my skill set sharp. Family care also interests me because I can care for patients of both genders, across the lifespan, and really get to know my patients on a deeper level, as well as their parents, children, spouse, etc.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I was born and raised in Waynesboro. I went away to school and lived out of state for a year before returning home. This is where my family and friends live, so I plan on remaining here. I am most looking forward to giving back to the community who helped raise me and caring for patients in my hometown. I am very excited about all the new services that are offered in Waynesboro, so patients do not have to travel out of town to receive high quality health care.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I’m not working, I'm busy staying active. Caring for patients has reminded me how fragile life is and that my health and physical capabilities are something I should never take for granted. My greatest joy and passions are fitness and the outdoors, so I spend as much time as possible enjoying both. My traveling is focused around climbing as many mountains as possible for as long as I can. I'm a streak runner and haven't gone a day without running since August 31, 2019. I've run in five countries and 29 states with a goal of running in all 50 states. I practice yoga daily and am in the process of becoming a certified yoga instructor.
