Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I always looked up to my pediatrician, the late Morton Schwartzman, MD. No matter how busy he seemed, his concern for myself and my siblings was genuine. In college, I majored in history of science, technology and medicine, and developed a deep appreciation for the physicians who came before me. Family Medicine is about problem-solving and understanding a patient's individual values, beliefs, and family circumstances. I enjoy gathering that information so I can develop a personalized treatment plan with my patients.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I grew up in Miami, attended college and medical school in Florida, and completed my internship and residency in McKeesport, PA. For nine years, I practiced in rural and underserved communities throughout Florida. My parents are a retired teacher and general contractor. I have two sons and, even though they were born in Florida, they love the snow. I have four nephews and one niece. My favorite team is the Pittsburgh Pirates.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Watching my sons practice and play baseball or wrestling, reading, listening to/playing music, and traveling.
