Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Since I can remember, nursing has been my passion. I have always wanted to help others, promote healthy lifestyles and make a positive impact in the lives of others. I became a nurse in 2007 and took care of the critically ill population. I enjoyed this experience tremendously but the ICU stay can be short at times and is not the best environment for teaching. In 2013 I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to make a bigger impact in the care of patients. It has been a rewarding yet challenging experience. I wouldn't have it any other way.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am a strong advocate for becoming certified in the area of nursing you work in. It substantiates your commitment to high quality care given to that specific patient population. From 2007 to 2013, I worked in the ICU and I was critical care certified. Since 2015, I started working exclusively with the heart failure population and I became certified with the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy working out at the gym doing strength and cardiovascular exercises. It keeps me energized and feeling good. I have an amazing family and group of friends. Playing cards, board games or dominoes is always fun. I have a daughter who loves to be outside in the park, at the beach and at the zoo. I also love the occasional date night with my husband. We enjoy going out to dinner and dancing!
