Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
When I was in high school, I wanted to be a small or large animal veterinarian, until I realized that I had terrible allergies to cats and to hay! I chose pediatrics as a career because I like working with children and enjoy following them clinically as they grow up from infancy to adulthood.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I always strive to be as thorough as possible when evaluating patients. I also want to make doctor visits as pleasant as possible. I am interested in knowing about my school-aged patients' other interests - sports, musical talents, hobbies, etc. - and I like learning where people are from if they are new to the area. Also, I sometimes whistle or hum while I'm working!
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy running, and also like reading (especially on historical topics) and travel. I play bassoon for the Twin Rose Community Band, which is based in Wrightsville.
