Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I have always had an interest in the sciences as well as mechanical things, building and repairing. For me medicine is the perfect fit to both interests, the science and discoveries of the most complex machine ever created.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My philosophy regarding your time spent with me has always been your health care plan as a team approach. My job is to utilize my training and experience to provide you with the best evidence-based information curtailed to your circumstance so that you can make the best decisions regarding your own health care. Of course, standards of care are important, but I have found that taking a little extra time to inform and educate patients can sometimes be more beneficial in accomplishing goals than adding another pill to the regimen. I am a firm believer in the KISS approach (Keep It Super Simple) and when things sometimes appear to be overwhelming, remind you that the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time, while continuing to work with you to achieve our established goals.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I am a homebody. I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, my faith, and working around my small homestead raising animals and growing a lot of my own food. I enjoy building my own furniture in my woodshop from trees that I have harvested myself and will often try to learn new skill sets as they are presented to me or are needed around my home. I very much like to be able to do things myself and develop new skills. I particularly enjoy the time spent with my young son, trying to pass on these skills to him as well as discovering new ones together.
