Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Growing up locally, many of the teachers took an interest in their students and really got us thinking about what we wanted to do. My sixth grade teacher here really took an interest in me as a student and saw the potential for higher education. During the summer between sixth and seventh grade, he contacted my parents and took me to Shippensburg University. That had quite the impact on me. Then when I was attending Hershey Medical School, I went with Dr. James Teeter, a Waynesboro surgeon, on a two month developing nation medical rotation. That experience really solidified my decision to become a surgeon.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I'm a 1980 Greencastle-Antrim High School graduate. Previously, I spent 15 years in private practice in the Harrisburg area. So, this was an awesome opportunity at the perfect time. My own family lives close to Greencastle and we have established family in Harrisburg. It was a top priority that I be able to serve a community and keep our family ties. Pennsylvania is home. This is my home. My wife and I really view ourselves as coming here long-term and serving the community where I grew up.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy the outdoors, both fishing and hunting, and I'm also something of an eclectic collector. I am fortunate to be able to build upon my grandfather's small coin collection, which has been kept in the family. My wife and I love to antique. Not only are we looking for things that interest us, but also for items with that uniqueness factor. Also because of my roots, I love a great deal.
