Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I chose to pursue a career in medicine following a year-long internship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., during my senior year of high school. At that time, I was working with the art therapy team to help relieve stress and suffering in hospitalized pediatric patients. I enjoyed spending time at the bedside working one-on-one with patients, and I found myself interested not only in patients' medical conditions, but also in their personal stories. I was so inspired by my experience that I decided to set my sights on medical school.
What I want my patients to know about me:
As a primary care physician, my goal is to help patients optimize their health and navigate our ever-evolving health care system. Realizing that every patient is different, I aim for a collaborative approach to medicine, focusing on education, exploration of management options and respect for individual beliefs. I am an advocate for preventive care and transparency in medicine. My hope is to be an approachable, honest, informed resource for my patients so that they receive the help and care they need.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When not seeing patients, I spend my time with my husband, son and our two dogs. I also enjoy gardening, home decorating and cooking.
