Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I was one of those boring people who knew what he wanted to do ever since I was a child. I had a fascination with the human body and all things medical even in middle school. However, as I progressed through the years (and years!) of my education, I discovered that the practice of medicine offered far more than the intrigue of science and technology. It was the human connection. I am keenly aware that my patients entrust me with some of the most intimate details of their lives so I try to use my education and experience to provide relief and healing in as compassionate a manner as I can.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am a primary care physician. As such, I try to view my patients as a whole person, understanding that many medical issues arise from a combination of physical, psychosocial, and spiritual factors. I will do my best to work with my patients to listen to their story and provide a treatment plan which is not only evidence-based and state-of-the-art but also practical and appropriate for the patient's individual situation and resources.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy a wide variety of activities although I will do just about anything as long as I can do it with my family. I have been a musician since I was a child and remain active in music to this day, playing in my church orchestra. I enjoy swimming for exercise although a brisk walk with my dogs is always a good stress reducer. I like to read a variety of things, from the daily newspaper to historical fiction to Christian theology. And, of course, I will never turn down the chance to go out for a nice meal with family or friends.
