Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I always wanted to work in cardiology because it is the most challenging and the most rewarding field of medicine. Since I started medical school, I wanted to learn more about the complex circulatory system and the heart. As I continued my training, I started research at Johns Hopkins and the National Institute of Health. That is where I quickly realized how prevalent cardiovascular disease is in the community and how much work needs to be done to treat it. I love learning about my patients and their disease. I am happy when I can put them on the right path to health during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
What I want my patients to know about me:
It is most rewarding when I can make a positive impact for my patients. Every day I meet new in my office, some have cardiovascular diseases and some do not. Many of them, we can help live longer lives with appropriate treatment. Others, we can ease their minds by giving them the proper tests. I enjoy teaching my patients about how they can live better and when we can make healthy decisions together. When my patients feel better and tell their stories about how we changed their lives it makes me very happy.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I love spending time with my kids. They like to play outside so that is where I find myself most of the time. I like to run a few miles every day, and if I donāt get to do that, I like to swim or ride a bike. My wife and I like to travel when we can find time to get away. I also enjoy public speaking, writing poetry and instrumental music.
